Jointly organized by the global Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) and the Taiwan Bio Industry Organization (Taiwan BIO) the BIO Asia–Taiwan International Conference and Exhibition was held for the first time in 2019. An endorsement of Taiwan's standing as a leading Asian biomedical industry hub, the gathering was a resounding success. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition was successfully transformed into a unique blend of online and live gatherings—BIO Asia–Taiwan 2020 Online + Live. In the following year BIO Asia–Taiwan 2021 Online was held, with an additional onsite exhibition taking place later in the year. With these new event formats, the regional and international biotechnology community was able to successfully step out from the shadow of the global pandemic and develop all-new regional and global bio-business opportunities.
