On 15th July, Webinar on ‘Establishing STPs and the Lessons the Philippines can Learn from Other Asian Countries’ was held.

The Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) has partnered with the United Nations ESCAP (UN ESCAP) and the Asian Science Park Association (ASPA) for this international webinar, and international experts shared their the challenges and success stories on establishing an S&T Park and the current initiatives of the DOST on innovation and startups.

In this webinar, the experience of developing STPs in a few selected countries in Asia, the key precursor conditions for establishing STPs in a city or area, rationale for the governments to support STPs, etc. were mainly discussed. Dr. Sunkook Kwon, Secretary-General of ASPA, also gave a presentation on overview of Science Park Development in Asia focusing on the activities of ASPA.

We hope the webinar provided a valuable time for the Philippine innovations and other related organizations to take further level.
