**About Industrial Technology Research Institute**
The Industrial Technology Research Institute - ITRI - is a primary R&D center for industry in Taiwan. In 1973, when ITRI was founded, there was very little high-tech industry in Taiwan. Today, Taiwan is a world-class player in semiconductors, personal computers, and many other high-tech sectors. ITRI has played a significant role in this transformation.
The success of ITRI, and of Taiwan, lies in a concerted effort to move up the technology ladder. We are on constant alert to identify opportunities, formulate plans, and make steadfast effort to carry them out.
ITRI seeks to address both current industrial needs and future growth. Government- sponsored funding tends to be directed towards long-range development, while contract and project work from today's industry keeps ITRI focused on what's happening right now. By recognizing and responding to the marketplace, ITRI stays ahead of the innovation curve of modern industry.
