Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) is emerging as a key hub for the development and application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Vietnam. Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, in cooperation with the SHTP Management Board and technology enterprises, launched a pilot UAV-based delivery service within the park. Although the trial currently focuses on short-distance routes, it marks an important first step toward integrating UAV technology into urban logistics and daily economic activities.
Based on the initial performance of the pilot program, participating companies plan to expand flight ranges beyond SHTP, potentially connecting routes such as Can Gio and Vung Tau to support logistics across the wider metropolitan area. According to Tran Anh Tuan, Director of Saolatek—a UAV developer headquartered in SHTP—the pilot allows companies to collect real-world operational data and hands-on experience, which is essential for shaping an appropriate legal and regulatory framework for civilian UAV use in Vietnam.
SHTP is also becoming a center for UAV manufacturing and technology innovation. In November 2025, Gremsy JSC began construction of a new factory in SHTP with an initial investment of 550 billion VND (approximately USD 21 million). Founded in 2011, Gremsy specializes in UAV gimbals, payloads, and camera modules, exporting products to 83 countries and planning to introduce 50–100 new products each year. The company aims to strengthen its position within Vietnam’s UAV supply chain through this expansion.
